Take a break already!

As of the writing of this post, I am flying home to Little Rock, Arkansas tomorrow morning for Thanksgiving break, and I absolutely cannot wait to be back in one of my favorite places on Earth with family and friends. I’ve been thinking about what I want to do when I get home for weeks, and I’m going to share some of them with you so maybe you can get some ideas for what to do with your break!
1.) Get outdoors. There’s a small mountain and hiking trail in Little Rock called Pinnacle that I haven’t climbed in nearly two years, and I’m planning to attack it first thing when I get back to get myself active so I don’t just sit around and eat all week! Are there any trails, paths, or even rivers on which you could go biking, hiking, kayaking, or walking in or near wherever you’re from? If you don’t know of any, you can easily find out just by Googling attractions in your area. Get some friends to go with you, or enjoy some alone time!
2.) Football. This one is a Thanksgiving tradition for many people, me and my family included. I’ll probably be watching lots of football while eating lots of Thanksgiving leftovers with family and friends, and I’m also going to the state semi-final football game for my high school; it’s playoff season for high school football, and if you still care at all about your high school, this week would be a great time to return and reconnect with some people you haven’t seen in awhile.
3.) Shopping. I’m still not sure whether I’m going Black Friday shopping or not, but I’ll definitely be getting a head start on Christmas shopping while I’m home because this week is when every store you can think of will finally have their holiday specials in full swing.
4.) Find new restaurants to visit. If you’re like me and only get to go home a few times per year, then there’s probably a lot of new places nearby you don’t know about yet. Just drive around and look for something new in a familiar area, and use it as an opportunity to catch up with old friends or spend time out and about with family.
However you spend your Thanksgiving break, I hope it’s relaxing and restorative for you! Happy Thanksgiving!
